About Us

The Burton Inn, East Village is a historic all-suite Cambria hotel where lasting memories are inspired by rich history and relaxed hospitality.

Ideally located in the heart of the Historic East Village of Cambria, the Burton Inn is just steps to premier restaurants and shops.

Hearst Castle, the elephant seal colony, and the Paso Robles Wine Country are a short drive away, making our Cambria hotel the perfect jumping off point to explore the Central Coast.

Cambria Restaurants and Shops Nearby

Burton Drive is the Rodeo Drive of Cambria.  All of the upscale shops, galleries, and fining dining is just steps from the Burton Boutique Hotel.   For such a small village, we have many wonderful restaurants to experience.  The Black Cat presents fine dining with smaller portions, rich French sauces, and the best wine list; Indigo Moon serves organic, natural flavors that presents tasty appetizers, fresh fish and steak; Robin’s and Wild Ginger both serve delightful Asian menus that surprises the palate (not surprising because the owners of each restaurant are from Singapore and are sisters!); Linn’s if you want to experience mom’s good home country cooking with sinfully good desserts; and the Sow’s Ear  offers southern comfort food like chicken fried steak, chicken and dumplings, and shrimp scampi.

Shopping is just a skip away and is a must-see to view art and handicraft by some very talented artists.  Moonstone gallery only displays American handicraft, Oliver’s Twist home decor, and Cinnabar Rock Trail international handicraft from faraway places. All within easy walking distance to our Cambria hotel, the Burton Inn.

About the Burton Inn Building

The building is a famed Cambria landmark, dating back to 1865. It was built by a local and prosperous farmer named Rufus Rigdon. Mr. Rigdon chose an idyllic spot with the Santa Rosa Creek nearby and beautiful views of the cambria pines.

After Mr. Rigdon enjoyed his time at 4022 Burton Drive, an English couple acquired the property. They built the Burton House next door in 1975 and ran a very successful restaurant for a number of years. Eventually, the two buildings were transformed into an iconic Cambria Hotel to what is now known as the delightful Burton Inn.

Since being under new ownership, this Cambria hotel has seen many renovations. While maintaining the warmth and charm of the historical building, the upgrades have added a modern touch to the facade and all of the suites, setting the stage for a comfortable and unforgettable retreat. Twelve spacious suites welcome guests to relax and enjoy a blissful getaway in true comfort. From the Grand to the Superior, our suites are well-appointed with every detail to make your stay a perfect dream.

Burton Inn Wine Social in the Evening

One of the things that can make traveling so memorable is connecting with others. Guests are encouraged to connect with fellow travelers during the wine social held every evening in the wood-paneled library.
